Power up with QT gensets

Read more... Generac Power Systems offers QT series gensets, which help protect against disruptive and costly power (energy) interruptions. The new model line-up includes liquid-cooled offerings with outputs ranging from 20 to 150 kilowatts, all with sound-attenuated enclosures and the Quiet Test feature. The 100 and 150 kW models are compatible with Generac’s Modular Power System, making possible for the creation of higher output systems, says the company. QT gensets are natural gas or LP vapour-fuelled, so there isn’t the fuel-spillage, spoilage or odour concerns that are common with diesel models, says the company. OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engines power Generac’s air-cooled products. They’re matched with new, high-output alternators to produce greater amounts of standby power, says the company. All the 2007 automatic standby products feature Rhino-Coat, which is Generac’s new textured paint finish. This durable, long-lasting protection provides consistent coverage and better bonding to seams and edges to resist corrosion, says the company.

Low-voltage motors

Read more...Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) introduced a new range of IEC low-voltage motors with aluminum housing. The new motors of the 1LE1 series are offered in the efficiency classes EFF1 and EFF2. The energy-efficient EFF1 motors achieve their high efficiency through the use of copper rotors.

High thrust rod actuator

Read more...The Type CRES high thrust rod actuator from THK is said to produce maximum operating efficiency, while a low voltage dc motor (12 V"15%) contributes to reduced energy consumption. The IP55 unit provides a maximum stroke of 130 mm, making it suitable for packaging machines, automatic seat positioners, panel operating mechanisms, positioning systems, height adjusters and opening/closing mechanisms. Nominal speed ranges are from 15 to 55 mm/s, with a nominal feeding force of 196 to 490 N.

Deep-groove ball bearings

Read more...SKF Canada Ltd. will soon bring to market new “green” deep-groove ball bearings, which reduce energy consumption by at least 30 per cent compared to standard ISO products, says the company. SKF says to consider that the energy consumption of industrial motor-driven systems in the U.S. and European Union is 1.36 million kWh per year. If these motors used SKF energy efficient deep-groove ball bearings, SKF says the estimated savings would be 2,460 million kWh per year. This is equivalent to the total energy consumption of more than three million Swedish households for one month.

High speed pumps

Read more...Viking Pump introduced a new model to its high-speed rotary transport pumps - the RTP20 series. The series' tri-lobe design (customizable per customer specifications) is compact and lightweight and features removable feet and multiple mountings for easy vertical or horizontal adaptation, says the company. Flexible for a variety of operational needs, the RTP20 series is also available with ACME threaded or tri-clamp ports, as well as many other port connection types. The RTP20 series efficiently fill rotor voids, allowing for faster and quieter operation on viscous liquids, says the company. In addition, with a longer sealing land at rotor tips, the series provides enhanced efficiency when working with lower viscosity products, says the company. The RTP20 offers a capacity to 264 GPM (1,000 L/M / 60 M3/Hr.), pressure to 145 PSI (10 Bar), viscosity to 250,000 SSU (55,000 cSt), and operates in temperatures to +230 degrees Fahrenheit (+110 degrees Celsius), says the company.

Cold door saves energy

Read more...Rite-Hite Doors introduced the Barrier Fold-a bi-folding cooler/freezer door. Barrier Fold uses the Thermal Air Sealing System that was first developed for Rite-Hite Doors' Barrier Glider high-speed cooler/freezer cold storage door. The Thermal Air Seal system not only creates a tight, conforming seal at the top of the doorframe, but also broadcasts continuous warm air evenly across the door and surrounding floor surfaces to prevent frost and reduce maintenance/operating costs, says the company. The seal and the efficient high-velocity blower defrost system combine to make the Barrier Fold energy efficient, says the company. The space-saving Barrier Fold comes in an internal or external freezer door-mount configuration, as well as a refrigerated cooler door. It accommodates openings ranging from six by eight feet to 10 by 16 feet with a small footprint (minimal two-foot side clearance and projection off the wall).

Ultra-efficient motors

Read more...GE Motors, part of GE Consumer & Industrial, introduces its X$D "Extra Severe Duty" Ultra motor, featuring National Electrical Manufacturers Association NEMA Premium efficiency and an industrial strength design that it says helps to lower annual energy costs and extends motor life without sacrificing performance. With its low temperature rise and low vibration, the X$D Ultra® motor is well suited for harsh environments involving highly corrosive materials or where processes place high structural demands on motors, such as in the oil, gas, energy and chemical industries. The new motor is a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) industrial AC motor ranging from one to 300 horsepower. It meets and/or exceeds NEMA Premium Nominal efficiency standards, which can reduce energy consumption. For information, visit: www.gemotors.com .
